ComReg has initiated some of the first discussions on the regulation of voice over IP (VoIP) services, which may come with a new '076' prefix.
The regulator issued a consultation document on Thursday which, among other things, said that determining a numbering strategy for voice over Internet protocol (VoIP)services is a pressing matter. As such, ComReg proposed several solutions to the matter, including one that would see new VoIP customers receive phone numbers with an '076' prefix, in much the same way that mobile phone numbers have an '08x' prefix.

They consultation document has also a section on ENUM, ENUM-enabled numbers and generic gateways.
So they listened very well to Michael and me 3 weeks ago ;-)
