The UK Optimizers and the EU Rebate
In a previous post about the Art of Being Against I finished with complaining about our optimizing kids:
They want to have everything, do not give back anything and complain fiercely. So regarding Europe the Brits seem to be somewhat infantile.
Comments:
can you tell me why exactly we are so infantile? we do not give anything back?

we are the 2nd largest contributor to the EU even post rebate. perhaps you want to take note how much the wonderful austria contributes to the cause of Europe.
We didnt/dont want to join the Euro. I dont see you attacking Sweden for not joining, i dont see you attacking Norway & Switzerland for not jumping aboard the EU bandwagon.
The UK is widely reputed to be one of the only countries that properly implements the legislations coming out of Europe...http://europa.eu.int/rapid/pressReleasesAction.do?reference=IP/05/430&format=HTML&aged=0&language=EN&guiLanguage=en oh look the Commission is taking legal action against Austria for not properly implementing the ecommunications framework...

A rebate is a rebate, which means that UK is not paying what it should. This rebate was given years ago and the economy in UK has changes (to the better side). Austria is also paying more to the EU than it gets back. And I have no idea what a legal dispute, which is not settled yet, and there are many others going on also with other countries has to do with this issue.
